Jeff Garrett seeks re-election to ANA Board

The ANA has made great progress in the last year and a half, while I have served on the board of Governors. Litigation that has plagued the organization has been resolved, and now the ANA can concentrate on its true mission- numismatic education. The ANA is also now on sound financial footing for the first time in decades. If re-elected, I will work with your board of Governors and Executive Director to continue the ANA on this successful path. The ANA is very important to me, and I look forward to another two years of service.

For the last 35 years I have devoted my life to numismatics. In fact I have attended every ANA Summer and Spring Show since 1974. My knowledge as a dealer, who has attended all of these shows, will be used to guide the association in selecting sites which bring the most benefit to the membership. I look forward to being a part of making sure the ANA has the funds to fulfill the membership needs now and for future generations. My previous 15 years of board experience with the Professional Numismatist Guild, having been Treasurer and President, provides useful experience when dealing with the complex issues facing the ANA.

Jeff Garrett
Jeff Garrett has enjoyed success in his first term on the ANA board and is seeking re-election this summer.

My interest in numismatics began the all-American way, with Lincoln Cents. In 1969 a family friend gave me a Lincoln cent board. From that time, coins became the focus of my life. While growing up in the Tampa Bay area in Clearwater Florida, I became very active in several local clubs, serving as a junior officer of the Clearwater Coin Club in the 1970's. I was mentored at an early age by many of the area dealers. Because local coin clubs were so important in my early life, I felt it would be important to foster the same atmosphere of enthusiastic collectors that I enjoyed as a youth. Many years ago I organized the Bluegrass Coin Club in Lexington, Kentucky. Today, the club is very healthy, with over thirty members in attendance each month.

The ANA has long been an important part of my life as well. In the mid-1970's I was fortunate to have received a scholarship to the ANA Summer Seminar. The Summer Seminar had an incredible impact on my early numismatic journey. I truly believe in the ANA Summer Seminars. This summer I will be teaching a class “How to Value US Coins”. I urge everyone to consider taking my class!

Numismatic education is the foundation of my recent efforts in numismatics. Recently I have authored several works, including 100 Greatest U.S. Coins and Encyclopedia of United States Gold Coins. The Smithsonian Institute has also been an important part of these efforts, where I have raised over $2,000,000 for numismatic exhibits. More information about these projects can be found at http://rarecoingallery.com/anaelection/index.php.

I look forward to serving the organization again. Please help me to continue moving the ANA forward with your vote in this summer's election. If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached by email at coinman4u@aol.com or by calling (859)276-1551.
